what makes an SL user
Bad weather, oppressive regimes, poor economic conditions — that’s what makes an SL user.

There must be something wrong with me because I didn’t get that sentence (by Philip Rosendale aka Philip Linden).
Raul Crimson also wrote about it. At least, I am not the only one poor, oppressed and under the rain.
Tenshi Vielle also wrote about it.

Which sentence didn’t you get?

Well, maybe he meant WE (the residents) have poor economic conditions next to HIM (Philip Rosedale), and that is true possibly, at least in my case, lol…
April 22nd, 2008 at 17:23
There are lots and lots of reasons for becoming a SL user/resident but the weather…? Why people always blame the weather?
April 22nd, 2008 at 17:49
Makes sense if he meant we’re poorer than him. x.x; I certainly am. But without us he wouldn’t have any money.
Besides, maybe Mr. Rosedale should think before saying something? That sentence is just stupid, as if we use SL because it’s the next best thing in our horrible lives or something.

You’re absolutely right Ana, that sentence makes no sense whatsoever. A very ignorant statement on Second Life’s part but what’s new?
April 22nd, 2008 at 18:06
::sigh:: so very kind of dear Phil to create this fabulous world for all of us poor, oppressed, snowbound shut-ins. Wherever would we be without his compassion?
…ok, i think i got a little sick just typing that…
Oh, and I’m moving in with Ana

I prefer another sentence:

I can’t help but feel a bit offended by Phillip’s comment. I am sure he really didn’t mean to be offensive but….open mouth and insert foot.
I must go back to my oppressed and low socioeconomic status now…
(and it is raining here so that could account for a lot)

Sunny and getting warm here.

Given all the recent hurricanes and tornadoes, and the sub-prime crisis, maybe he’s referring to the USA

Thanks for the inspiration Ana!
Venus, that’s exactly my point of view
April 24th, 2008 at 9:54
Hang on a minute, if US and W Europe are his biggest client base, what the hell is he talking about?
April 24th, 2008 at 11:02
Good question! We are still asking ourselves questions like that…
April 25th, 2008 at 10:07
It seems that Philip was misquoted…
