1 – How did you discover Second Life and what made you create an account?
I received an email about it going off beta.
2 – How did you come up with your Second Life name?
Catherine Linden set up my account. She used my first name and picked a last.
3 – Lots of people only stay inSL for a week or a month after creating an account. What made you stay and what motivates you to log back in?
I only planned to stay a little bit. But, hoping to not sound like a commercial, it was an exciting new world. I landed in Tan and hung out with that gang, Nicola Escher, Beryl Greenacre, Lordfly Digeradoo, Nick Rhodes, and Viola Bach. Friends motivate me to log back in. Them and my damn turtles.
4 – What have you been doing in SL? Tell us your story: what have you been up to or what have you created.
Lindens were really hard to come by when I started in Second Life. You couldn’t buy them. If you owned land then you got huge stipends, but if you didn’t then just $500L per week. Sounds like a lot compared to the $50L or $0L you get today but it wasn’t! I wanted some jewelry and couldn’t afford it, so I made some. Beryl Greenacre said I should sell them. And here I am today still making jewelry. I wonder if any can remember the name of my store in the beginning?
5 – Have you found, developed or improved any skills because of SL?
I have learned some more imaging skills, and I know a lot more about jewelry. Actually made some in real life the other day. I am currently learning sculpties. I fought off learning another program as long as I could.
6 – Could you share a funny or awkward story that happened to you inSL?
Can’t remember exactly what I was doing, but I ended up half naked in a friend’s-friend’s skybox. He was showing us some aircraft he made. I think I was going to put something on and suddenly my boobs were showing! I almost died. I know.. happens on a regular basis for some people on purpose. But I was so innocent. That story or the dreaded box head. You feel like a total noob and just want to run and hide. Which I did.
7 – What would you change or improve in Second Life?
Just a couple that come to mind right now. I would make it harder to steal and easier to stop content theft. And LL would take some notes from the Emerald Viewer and implement them!
8 – Can you share your current and/or future projects for SL?
Currently, I just made some jewelry in my new [Lion & Lamb] series. In the future I have some really fun jewelry coming out. For some reason I’m procrastinating finishing it. I blame the turtles.. I always have to check on them. I always have things drawn out ready to be made or half started in prims.
9 – Have you ever had any issues whatsoever within Second Life? If so, how did you reported and was the feedback positive?
Recently there have been people using cryo on my sim. As soon as I reported them they could no longer be searched via Profile. Which I am guessing = Banned. It’s awesome that they took care of it so fast.
10 – Is Second Life merely an online game or do you consider it more of a metaverse or a virtual world?
Metaverse.
11 – Imagine a new resident asks for your help. What would do? What would you tell him/her?
One place every avatar should visit is The Ivory Tower Library of Prims in Natoma.
12 – How would you describe yourself in one word?
Sweet!
