1 – How did you discover Second Life and what made you create an account?
I heard about Second Life through my beloved friend Willow. We were running a website on European bands together and we wanted to do something fun together. She had heard about Second Life from a magazine or something and she told me about it and I signed up right before the 4th of July but at the time my computer couldn’t handle running Second Life, so I took a brief absence until I got a better computer and came back around November when I got a brand new Intel iMac.

2 – How did you come up with your Second Life name?
Lola is actually a nickname I have in RL. And the last name I thought it would be funny to pick Hienrichs because one of my best friends who lives in Finland his first name is Henrik and the name sort of reminded me of his name so I picked Hienrichs as a surname. And there were like a gajillion Lola Hienrichs when I signed up so I was kind of a weird person and put 79 since it was the year I was born XD

3 – Lots of people only stay inSL for a week or a month after creating an account. What made you stay and what motivates you to log back in?
Well at first SL frustrated me to no end because it really hated my other MAC even though according to the website my MAC had all the specifications to run the game. I got a brand new computer and when I was sick with a sinus infection I was home alot so I started logging in and gave SL another chance and met some really interesting people who wanted to show me their freenis and tpd me to some interesting sims to have their ways with me my poor little av. But then I met some really great people and after a while I just got hooked and made some really great friendships and not so great ones in-world. We live and learn.

4 – What have you been doing in SL? Tell us your story: what have you been up to or what have you created.
Okay so when I started off in SL lets just say Lola was a dancer yeah yeah yeah *looks down in shame* and my tip jar was always empty. Sadly my milkshake never brought the boys or girls to my yard…..until I met Sinogue…and then things changed. So yes I did the whole dancer, host, manager thing at clubs and it was alot of fun. I made tons of great friends such as Pumpkin, Potvin, Sevannah, Lady, Kyo, and many many more. And I met my lovely Kanic who inspired me to open my store. I own a small store that some of you may or may not know, that goes by the name of Otaku Designs. I like to create random things. What exactly do I make? Well just about anything I would like to wear…which can be tattoos, jewelry, legwarmers, and at one time I even attempted clothing. I tend to cater towards the kawaii, gothic, super random end of things. You know if it has milkshakes, cupcakes, heartagrams, ankhs, sugar skulls, then most likely you can find it at my store.

5 – Have you found, developed or improved any skills because of SL?
I am constantly trying to improve my skills in building. I never thought it was possible for me to even build anything, let alone texture something as intricate as a nano prim. And here I am even attempting to make my own sculpties in programs, albeit the sculpties are very basic and have some flaws, I can still run around exclaiming to the world that I finally succeeded in making my own sculpty and that the bloody program can be damned for giving me hell. I am really working hard to improve my intra-personal skills too; I tend to be extremely reclusive and I tend to retreat and hide when people talk to me. But slowly I’m getting better at talking to people out in stores or even in my store.

6 – Could you share a funny or awkward story that happened to you inSL?
I like to tp in my undies to sims because I’m far too lazy to dress in clothes even though I have so many dresses from Blue Blood, Silent Sparrow, katat0nik, and Schadenfreude. One day I had teleported to the Silent Sparrow sim and the lovely Miss Hya sent me a sim message telling me to put on my clothes XD which was so funny and I couldn’t stop laughing.

7 – What would you change or improve in Second Life?
I know everybody is sick of hearing about content theft and I’m not really going to go into detail about it. But I think we all need to be educated about content theft in our own way. I learned about it first hand by watching a copybotter steal the content right in front of my friend and myself and saw the aftermath of my friend as it completely destroyed her. She has finally moved on and I’m so happy for her that she is creating beautiful products that I hope others will enjoy as much as I do. I would love to improve how I interact with my customers. I know sending these messages through my subscriber kiosk seems to take forever and a day. And I realize most individuals don’t have the space to join my in-world group. I would love for those who are subscribed in my kiosk to get the same benefits as my in-world group but for the time being I can only reward the in-world group with discounts and group gifts. And offer dollarbies and special priced items for those who are subscribed in my kiosk. I am not really fond of sending group gifts through the kiosk because of the beligerent abuse of people subscribing just to get the gift, when the gift was intended to reward those who are valued customers of my store. Hence my implementation of in-store dollarbies.

8 – Can you share your current and/or future projects for SL?
I plan to rebrand my store to a new name because I have currently outgrown my current brand name. When I originally opened my store I only created Otaku (otaku = anime related) items but then I began to broaden my focus. I also didn’t realize that there is another store in-world that has a name similar to mine that creates cosplay items. So in order to avoid confusion I am going to rebrand my store to something that suits me more, but I won’t reveal that name until about January

9 – Have you ever had any issues whatsoever within Second Life? If so, how did you reported and was the feedback positive?
I’ve never really had any major issues within Second Life besides the same things that everybody complains about; i.e. lag, glitches, etc….

10 – Is Second Life merely an online game or do you consider it more of a metaverse or a virtual world?
I think Second Life is whatever you make it to be and as long as you allow yourself to have an open mind you can be free to experience many new things.

11 – Imagine a new resident asks for your help. What would you do? What would you tell him/her?
Usually when a new resident approaches me I tend to run away and hide in my hermit hole XD haha okay I’m just joking.
Usually when a new resident approaches me they ask me for shapes, hair, skins, etc. I usually try to show them blogs that they can get an idea of wher to go and get free stuff. And I even tell them how to use the search engine in-world to look for certain stores that have newbie packages. I used to have a notecard with landmarks to assist newbies but I accidentally deleted it when I was pretending to clean my inventory. I would warn the new resident to be wary of items given to them being boxed, especially if its alot of hair or skins. And if they do receive items like that, to decline the item and tell the person you are not interested in receiving stolen content. And I would try my best to explain to the new resident the pitfalls of stolen content and how it effects content creators and try to educate them on how to tell if its stolen.
