Second Life name: Ana Lutetia
RezDay: 11/11/2006

1 – How did you discover Second Life and what made you create an account?
I have been a blogger since 2003 and around 3 years ago I hit a blogging wall and began to loose interest in my blog. I wanted to go in another direction or start something new as I was fed up with what I was blogging about.
On a rainy Sunday afternoon, I was bored reading my usual blogs and came across a post about Second Life in one of my favourite blogs of all times. I immediately open the page for the registry and here I am. You can all blame Cat Magellan!
2 – How did you come up with your Second Life name?
I first signed with my usual nickname but somehow lost it and had to create another account. While creating the account it hit me that the name was important because the website said *Second Life* and I decided to use my real name. As for last name I searched for something that would resemble my real last name. Since I couldn’t find anything I liked the sound, I picked Lutetia that sounded like my second name (and last name mixed up).
3 – Lots of people only stay inSL for a week or a month after creating an account. What made you stay and what motivates you to log back in?
I am not a gamer at all and I had a new toy to play and discover. I guess I stayed to see what exactly has that thing I download and signed up for. It took me a while to get used to the keys and I used to fly everywhere because it was easier than walking… Eventually, I met other SLers and start to hang out in clubs.
4 – What have you been doing in SL? Tell us your story: what have you been up to or what have you created.
I have been blogging Second Life®…
I have done photo shoots for advertising outfits (MG fashion , PERSONA , lookr and fuse), won model contests on most photogenic in model agencies, was one of finalists on SL Face of L’Oreal Paris 2007 as well in Lacoste Second Casting, feature in the cover in a RL magazine (Spirit mag) and was interviewed for the Portuguese Elle magazine, major newspapers and national television. I am a model for FACES, METRO Models, Sophisticated Models and for Millions of Us (Models/Extras).
As a blogger, I have my own blog (doh!) and I still consider myself a Second Life blogger and not only a fashion blogger. I’ve also blogged for Style HotLine and am currently a fashion blogger Rezzable. The first project I colaborated with was GETA – short for Get a Second Life® – which was the *most* read Portuguese blog at the time. Recently, I was asked to blog for a few other projects but I haven’t answered it yet… (I’d love to say yes to all of them but due to time constrains I would be impossible. Meh!)
As a magazine writer, you can see my montly column in Second Style Magazine and in ROLE Magazine. I’ve also wrote for a Portuguese newspaper about Second Life® that ended after 4 or 5 issues and I can’t even remember the name.
I am also an Avatar Stylist and Event Organizer for Beta Technologies and a Portuguese Translator for Babel Translations (created by Peter Stindberg).
Oh – and I have a poses shop which I am rebranding to .VOGA..
5 – Have you found, developed or improved any skills because of SL?
Sure! I didn’t knew that much about image editing before Second Life® besides lighting an image or adjusting contrast. I am not an expert in it but I knew a few cool tricks.
My English has improved a lot. I don’t speak English in my day to day life and it’s not even my third language. I speak English occasionally on vacations but with SL™ I have been writing in English almost daily for the past 3 years.
6 – Could you share a funny or awkward story that happened to you inSL?
Besides the usual logging in naked in a crowed area, like everyone else? I can’t think of anything.
7 – What would you change or improve in Second Life?
The client/viewer options for once and the little issues that every viewer has.
8 – Can you share your current and/or future projects for SL?
I really don’t know if SL will behave good enough for me to keep logging back in. I am kind of disappointed with SL at the moment…
9 – Have you ever had any issues whatsoever within Second Life? If so, how did you reported and was the feedback positive?
I have had lots of issues! The issues I had with other people, I ARed them and/or send a complaint to the eJustice Center. However, there are people that have issues with me and that I can’t solve…
With SL™ itself, I’ve filled tickets that not only were quickly responded but also had great feedback from Linden Lab.
10 – Is Second Life merely an online game or do you consider it more of a metaverse or a virtual world?
If Second Life® was merely an online game, I wasn’t here.
11 – Imagine a new resident asks for your help. What would do? What would you tell him/her?
I am usually helpful unless I ran into stupid people. If a person is polite asking help, I’d do everything I can to help them. With new residents, I’d send them to the Ivory Tower of the Prims, Gnubie Store, Free Dove or even TP them around showing them SL. And I always give a lot of tips to new residents, like don’t trespass, respect others, etc.
12 – How would you describe yourself in one word?
geeky
