1 – How did you discover Second Life and what made you create an account?
I discovered SL through my friends, when I was playing There.com. I created an account during beta, but got discouraged when I couldn’t figure out the controls and quit after a week. That was my first try. A year later my friends tried to get me back in and I created another av named Dulce Queso (I loved the idea of being named Sweet Cheese XD). Due to RL I quit again after 1 week. About a year later I missed my friends so much that I gave it another go. This last time I named myself Melora Gwynneville, but they along with their significant others continued to call me “Vi”, so I ditched that account after a couple of weeks and got this name.

2 – How did you come up with your Second Life name?
My name in The Sims Online and There.com was Violet Skye, after the Hole song “Violet”. Since you can have last names in SL, I dropped the second name, and chose the last name Voltaire because I lurve the musician/artist (Voltaire.com).

3 – Lots of people only stay in SL for a week or a month after creating an account. What made you stay and what motivates you to log back in?
Heehee! I did only stay for a week…twice! For me it’s always been my friends that keeps me coming back. Once I started creating, that become another addiction. Since I’ve been on break from SL, I’ll find myself inspired to create something, and log in to lay down the ground work. Which is really bad because now have like 20 half finished projects in my inventory. Or sometimes I’ll stare at some odd object or see something weird in a movie and think it could be a cool earring/pendant in SL! “I wonder how many prims that would take…”

4 – What have you been doing in SL? Tell us your story: what have you been up to or what have you created.
I’ve been making jewelry and accessories for about 2 years now. They started off as mostly being EGL inspired. A lot of pearls, crowns, and lace. Then I met a friend who was in the SL Doll community and she requested a doll key to match one of my crowns. She loved it and offered me a little spot in her store. It did really well. After that it became an addiction to come up with odd doll key ideas. I wish it was something I could wear in RL. They’re so fun. Lately I’ve been really into quirky and whimsical type of sets.

5 – Have you found, developed or improved any skills because of SL?
Oh gosh yes. Aside from learning how to build in world, learning Photo Shop was a big one. Then I had to figure out how to market and design graphics for ads and logos. My first ads and sets are so funny but in a sweet-sad way. I remember biting my nails over so many things back then.

6 – Could you share a funny or awkward story that happened to you in SL?
The one time I can remember being hit on, I froze and just kept asking “What do you mean? O.O”. He giggled and said “Nothing it’s just RP”. We weren’t on an RP sim though! We were on my sky pad. I was like “Oh, well…umm ok. Sorry it’s just not my thing. I love my boyfriend.” *dead silence*…*crickets* It was one of those moments where you are soooo glad no one can see blushing or nervously biting your lip in RL.

7 – What would you change or improve in Second Life?
The 255 link limit.

8 – Can you share your current and/or future projects for SL?
A collab is in the works with one of my favorite people evar. Ummm and I’m currently trying to conjure up the courage to release this hair I’ve been hoarding for far to long now. Also thinking of making some exclusive free sets for any RL customers I get from SL.

9 – Have you ever had any issues whatsoever within Second Life? If so, how did you reported and was the feedback positive?
Not really. When ever things aren’t working properly I just sigh and log off for a couple of hours.

10 – Is Second Life merely an online game or do you consider it more of a metaverse or a virtual world?
I consider it a virtual world, it’s to open-ended to be a game.

11 – Imagine a new resident asks for your help. What would do? What would you tell him/her?
I’d totally help them out. I love bringing in new friends. For a few hours you forget about all the drama, lag, bugs, etc. Everything becomes new and exciting through their eyes as they explore and discover things that I take for granted.

12-How would you describe yourself in one word?
Whacky
