Anti-Inspect Shield | what’s the point?

I don’t really know where I first heard of the Anti-Inspect Shield but every time I see something related to this device, I just want to laugh. It must be me but I can’t see the point of wearing such a thing.

My search for Anti-Inspect Shield on Xstreet SL resulted in this and one of them is even a feature item: Blocking Shield(Anti Inspect) Incl.Updates THE ORGINAL! Of course that none of them is free and most of them are primmy. As you can see they are priced between 17L$ and 100L$. Not much, right? But a lot to pay for a completely useless device…

Gabby Panacek wrote an amazing article about it and the lag effects of this *amazing* device: Just Say No! and Jacek Antonelli shows how to bypass the device: Bypass an Anti-Inspect Shield in 3 Easy Steps
If you discover a reason to wear one of those things, please enlighten me.

Oh… and this was how I looked like:

Anti Inspect shield has two principle uses:

    1. (For you) – It acts as a warning device. When you see one coming, you know that someone with no fashion sense whatsoever is in your vicinity.
    2. (For the wearer) – It’s a very effective way of masking the fact they’re wearing stolen content under the guise of wanting to protect their style from others.

Anti-Inspect can serve a variety of purposes; It can prevent people from inspecting your prims to find out where you bought your hair or your bracelet or your shoes, some people are insane about how they try to outrun people and be “unique”. Sadly for them these great items end up being worn by half the world anyway. :P

A much worse use of it though is by copybotters, who don’t want you to inspect their prims for the obvious reason that you would see they are wearing stolen goods, now this mostly fails because a lot of people will just suspect you of wearing illegal copies because you have the anti-inspect, though I must say it is the most unfair if you go out accusing people before you are sure what the reason is, the article here linked to how to bypass an anti inspect so before you accuse or AR or ban from a sim, make sure you do that.

Wearing a shield and using “Show Look At” can also give you an angle and an estimate on what exactly all those pervs are camming on you.

The reasons are given in the order of how common they are I guess, there are further uses but that’s up to your imagination.

    Hey Ana! :)
The main purpose of the anti-inspect device, as far as I know, is to prevent users of copybot viewers from clicking your hair, shoes and other attachments and ripping them. I actually bought one lol but thanks for pointing out that there’s a way to bypass it lol, I didn’t know this. I wondered why they were so prim heavy and now I assume that the purpose of that is to annoy the user who is trying to bypass one piece by piece XD

We all know who are the biggest fans of this stipid invention, the same people who are wearing ripped shoes, clothing, accessories and hair… they aren’t so much preventing us from copying their awesome style as hoping we won’t notice what else is going on. :/

Well the point is easy… to wear riped items…

Interesting… CopyBot is the main theme with this ‘great invention’.

Yes it is, well it gets me curious to check actually, which sort of defeats the purpose because until now I also was able to get through it, well not as easy but the trick was to cam between their shoes and send my camera top-down into them, cutting through the prims, and then when enabling transparent highlighting I could see the holes through which I could click.

Actually the things that make me check a person twice are:

    -No AO but fancy clothes.
-Expensive designer items mixed with newbie clothes.
-SoReal shoes. (And other copybotters favourites)
    -Griefers.
-Brazillian name/profile in portugese (Sorry but for some reason they seem to stick out in the copybotting game)
-Newbie, no payment info on file and fancy clothes.
    -Modded viewers.

This is based on my experience, and again I’m sorry for the thing about Brazilians but maybe they give this out as freebies on one of their sims.

Most copybotters are Brazilian. It’s only natural that you feel that way about Brazilians.

However, there are a lot of Portuguese people (from Portugal and other PALOPs) inSL and most of them have their profiles in Portuguese.
Even though I am Portuguese, I have all my profile in English and only in the languages part I wrote that I speak Portuguese.

Inspect shields damage creators , since a bunch of creators are mainly advertised by people wearing their clothes/attachments whatsoever.
So if people won’t be able to inspect anymore , those stores are kind of losing customers.
Also its just laggy and annoying. :3
