about sculpties inSL

Rika Watanabe wrote an interesting post about a boot virus. After the post (written a while back) I did some research and found some very interesting stuff in XStreet SL:

* Freyr Darkstone – sells full perms UV maps for sculpted shoes and boots
* Rusalka Write | Box o’ Sculpties 23 – Purse Shapes – sells full perms UV maps ans sculpties purses
* MyFly Magic | Cap & Hat Sculpties – sells full perms sculpties with UV maps for hats and caps
* Rusalka Writer | sculpted symbols
* Mr Greggan | Top hats – sculpties for top hats
* special bear – sells UV maps for flats, sneakers and boots
* dev beresford – sells full perms UV maps for boots and pumps
* Bartek Levenque – sells full perms UV maps for shoes and hoodies
* Karl Labrada | Collar Sculpt Box
* Juliea Diesel – sells sculptie maps for flip flops (with toes), corsets, shoes, hair bands, fishes, skirts, scarves, caps, etc.
* Seraphina Spyker – sculpties maps for flyer leather jackets, shoes, vests, sandals, shorts, etc.
* eku Zhong – prim toes, belts with sculptie maps

As you can see you can find in XStreet SL lots and lots of solutions for your sculpted prims needs. I wonder how many designers are using these resources… Also, some of these creators even add textures for the items. And I wonder how many designers are adding value to their purchase by creating their own unique textures for the items they bought.

I have actually bought some of these full perm resources. Sometimes I never use them, sometimes I end up making something the same but better on my own, sometimes I buy them just so I can modify them into something I needed, sometimes I use them as is, and sometimes I redo texturing completly.
Basically if someone else created it and sells it full perms then I might actually look into buying it. Why reinvent the wheel?
If SL were a full time job for me, I’d dedicate more time to creating sculpties.

One thing I won’t do is buy full perm shoe sculpties to sell shoes. Something that is completely out of the ordinary for me (as a designer). No idea why, I guess if I was good at making shoes I would.

    blah rambling, sorry!!!

I recently made a few full permission sculpts for a friend. I don’t think I’d ever sell full permissions stuff commercially though. I’ll make items for my friend because I know I can trust her.

Personally I don’t really see the point in buying these types of packs when they’re not made specifically for you (and won’t be sold elsewhere). You end up paying a lot for something that can’t be customized that much. I don’t understand how one can make his ‘own’ products from these packs, to be sold elsewhere. And if you’re not buying for commercial purposes, then why not get just a pair of shoes in one color? Much less expensive.

Anyways, not to say these packs are pointless. In my friend’s case for example, she doesn’t have the time to make everything herself and therefore occasionally buys sculpt parts (bows etc.). But for shoes, caps and other items to be used as they are I definitely don’t see the point. You’re better off sculpting it yourself, so you can make your own textures and lighting and have better control.

    Hello! : D

I just Saw myself on your list lmao :)

yay cool. And Yeah all my things are created by Me. No One Else.

    Why im selling cheap?
    - more peoples will buy = more rates = higher Rank position = more peoples will buy

:D Its pretty obvious and yeah more profitable than setting high price in my opinion :)

Hope To see you in marketplace! : D
