tutorial | how to wear multiple attachments

as a follow up to AnaLu’s previous post on Layers and Attachment Points

So you bought a cute shirt with a bunch of lace prims all down the front, and when you chose “wear,” all that lace attached (by default) to your stomach. No problem.

Then you bought an amazing belt, but when you chose “wear,” your lace disappeared because the belt also attaches (by default) to your stomach. Oops.

Fine then. You decided to go simple (who needs lace anyway?) and threw on your favorite skirt to go with that belt. But alas, there went the belt… replaced by the skirt, because the skirt also attaches (by default) to your stomach.

With 30 possible attachment points, you’d think getting dressed wouldn’t be so hard…

If you want to wear all three of these items, but they all default-attach to your stomach when worn, are you stuck? Nope. In most cases, you can modify your items to make each of them attach to alternate points, and edit them to move them into proper position. All it takes is a little time, a little thought, and some editing skills.

This excellent tutorial page from the Virtual Neko blog will show you how…

You can do this with everything, but I’ve made copies of prims that I wear all the time and then linked them altogether to free up attachment points. For example linking hair and facial piercings. One of the jackets I had had a separate collar and tails that I ended up adjust to fit me right then linking them together so they use one point instead of two.

Whoops I meant you “CAN’T do this with everything”. Not enough coffee today.
